The Department was started with the establishment of the college. In the year 1967. The department has three sanction faculty posts. Presently Dr.V.D.Naganuri Assistant Professor working as a HOD of kannada .

The kannada Department strives to teach kannada Language and literature to match the subject with modern milieu. Its aim includes to stir not only the basis of the subject but also an inclination towards research, Kannada culture study center is established to achieve this goal.

The department has taken up three project works namely 1) Jananpeeth Awardee Dr. U.R.Anantmurthy 2) Exhibition of folk arts and 3) Centenary of Nadoj Dr. Patil Puttappa

The department has taken initiation in organizing special lectures for the students. During this year special lectures were organized. A lecture on Vachan Sahitya by Dr, Basappa Kumbar and Kuvempus literature and its rationality by Dr. G. S. Mariguddi, Vishwa Manav Dinacharne by Dr, Shreshail Mathapathi and Sahityad samshodhana vaidanikate by Dr. Prakash Girimallanavar and a Lecture On “Janapad Sahitya ,” Kavan Kattuva Bage. By Smt. M.Y. Patil. A Lecture on his poem –by Dr, Y.M.Yakolli and Halagannada Kavyagalu –by Dr. K.R Durgadas.

The Department has Orgnised a National webinar on Kuvempu Sahityadallim pratirodhad Nelegalu. National webinar on Janapad Sahityadalli Hasya.

Students were attended national seminar on the topic “litrerature of Ratnaka varni orgnised by RCU Belgavi and an students interaction session was organized with folk artist Dr. Chandrashekhar betgeri of gokak.

A Program for the convenience of the student was conducted. The previous question papers of various Examination like FDA, SDA, UPSC and KPSC were collected and shared with the students.

The faculty of the department is actively engaged in learning, teaching and reaserch activity. Shri D.T.Soglad has been appointed as permanent faculty in the year 2019. He has attended orientation and Refresher Program at Ramanujan University Delhi, and published one article. and attended national and international semina, state level seminars, workshops and FDA Program.

Dr. M.Y.Hiremath appointed as permanent faculty in 2021. She has attended orientation program at Ramanujan University Delhi, and attended National Seminars, and published two articles. Attended national and international seminar, state level seminars, workshops and FDA Program and presented papers in various seminars.

Dr. V. D. Naganuri HOD of the department has attended refresher and short term program at Karnataka University Dharwad and Sant Gadge baba University Amravati, and received best teacher award from Manav Bandutav Vedike in 2018, published 6 articles, attended national and international seminars, state level seminars, workshops, FDA Program, presented paper in various seminars. And worked as ‘BOE’ Member of Rani Channamma University belgavi , Lingraj College of Belgavi. And Treasurer of Kannada college Teacher Association of Rani Channamma University Belgavi. Worked as a Squad Committee Chairman of Rani Channamma University Belgavi. Worked as a ‘BOS’ member of Rani Channamma University Belgavi.

Department had conducted various competitions like quiz competition, speech competition, Essay competition, and Pick and speak competition. Our students also participated in various competition conducted at other colleges.

During the Period 2016-17 to 2020-21, there are five research projects are undertaken involving students. Dr.(Smt.)P.V.Gadavi, HOD has participated in Six National/International Seminars and conferences and published three articles in International peer reviewed Journals. Also published six articles in various books. And Co-Editor of 2nd Semester Text Book Kavya Kalash. Dr.(Smt) P.V.Gadavi is also memebre in various bodies like B.O.S. Bangalore University, Member in International Hindi Parishdha. Madam has attended online short term course. “Hindi Day” is celebrated every year.

Majority of students offer Hindi as Basic subject and interested Students offer optional Hindi. The percentage of results is more than 90%. The departmental Library has 70 books which are circulated among the students. Many Students have completed post Graduation and working in different institutions.

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1967. Prof. B. M. Bhopalapur, Prof. N. B. Kakhandki, Prof. D. S. Khade, Dr. R. B. Pujar and Dr. B. V. Bhise, Dr. P. R. Hiremath were served as Head of the Department respectively. Out of three sanctioned faculty positions, two were permanent and two are guest faculties. Dr. P. R. Hiremath completed his Ph. D. in 1999. Besides he was NCC officer in the rank of Major till 2009. Dr. P. R. Hiremath Presented a paper in the International Symposium ‘PIERS-2000’ at MIT Boston, USA in 2000, also completed one UGC sponsored Minor Research Project and sir has published many research publications in various international journals. Dr. R. B. Pujar Former HOD completed one UGC sponsored Minor Research Project and presented a paper in the International Symposium ‘PIERS-2002’ at MIT Boston, USA in 2002. His name was included in “Asias who’s who” for his life time achievement.

Presently Prof. M. R. Patil, Assistant Professor is a HOD of the department and he published four research publications in Peer reviewed international journals. Prof. Sunilkumar who joined the department in 2019 as Assistant Professor, Pursuing Ph. D. from Kuvempu University. Sir has cleared NET, JRF, GATE and K-SLET examination. Sir has published seven research papers in international Peer reviewed journals, awarded best oral presentation award first place in National conference on Recent advances in Physics for Interdisciplinary Development RAPID-2K21 in Harihara, Karnataka and also acted as a speaker in third International conference on Materials science and Nanotechnology (hybrid) held in Rome, Italy “FM 2022”.

From 2004 to 2008, the admission of students for B. Sc was moderate. Semester system was introduced in the year 2005-06. From 2009-10, the admission of students has considerably increased. Dr. P. R. Hiremath attended the workshop for the review of the syllabus at Karnataka University DharawadThe CBCS syllabus was introduced in 2020 and Prof. M. R. Patil, was the BOS member for framing the CBCS syllabus. The NEP syllabus was introduced in 2021 all over Karnataka.

The Department Library has 108 books. There is well equipped and well furnished laboratory with latest equipments. Four research scholers namely Shri. B. K. Bommannavar, Shri. M. R. Patil and Shri. Sunilkumar our Faculty and Shri. R. K. Rendale, Faculty of HIT, Nidasoshi, Shri. TanaveerMakandar, lecturer Government P.U. College, Hukkeri have used the laboratoryfor their M. Phil and Ph.D. The Department has two computers with internet connectivity and Laser printer. “World year of Physics was celebrated in 2006. Dr. J. R. Tonannavar, Department of Physics, Karnataka University, Dharwad was in the chair as chief guest. From 2009 the department has organized many National lavelSeminars have been organized.

The faculty guides the students for project, for participationin various competitions like PPT presentations, poster presentation in seminars, Quiz competitions and departmental seminars.Also encourage and guide the students for their higher education and career.

The department of chemistry established in the year 1967 and has two permanent faculties Dr. Smt. Vijayalakshmi Edalli and Dr. Honnur Krishna with doctorate degrees. Shri. G. S. Dodamani, Dr. M. S. Tenginakai, Dr. S. R. Subhedar, Dr. G. S. Nadagouda, Dr. M. C. Hosur, Dr. Smt. K. S. Chougala and Dr. P. S. Manoli served as Head of the Department.

Dr. M. S. Tenginakai, Dr. G. S. Nadagouda, Dr. M. C. Hosur, Dr. Smt. S. R. Desai and Dr. P. S. Manoli has served as Principal of our college as well. Currently, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Edalli is serving as the Head of the Department.

The teaching and learning process is supported by interactive methods like seminars, Group Discussions with the students, Guest lecturers from the subject experts of other colleges, the study tour and field visits to various agricultural, food and chemical industries. Department had conducted a quiz competition which is financially sponsored by Dr. M. C. Hosur who had served as Secretary of SDVS Sangh, Principal of our College and HOD of the department.

Our college students have participated in various national and state level seminars and quiz have won many of the prizes. To motivate and inspire the students, they have been taken to Enthalpy Research and Innovation Centre at Sankeshwar which is an agricultural research startup company.

The faculty of the department is actively engaged in research and project work and has published research articles and book chapters in various international journals with high impact factor.

Department has MOU’s with Raith Mitra Krishi Abivruddhi Sangha, Sankeshwar and Town Municipal Corporation, Sankeshwar. The department conducts self financed certificate courses on the topic entitled “Water sample analysis”, “Soil sample analysis” and “Vermicompost: A Bio Tool for Solid Waste Management”. Under the faculty exchange program, our faculty has shared their expertise at RMKAS with respect to analytical chemistry instruments for instance AAS, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, pH meter, etc.

The department library has around 40 standard reference books and one desktop with internet facility. The department has a well equipped laboratory. The faculty members have participated in many state/national/international seminars and conferences and online webinars. Our faculty has actively participated as resource persons as well. Many of our alumni have completed post graduation and are employed in various fields.

The department of Mathematics started its functioning in the year 1967. The department is offering B.Sc. (Mathematics ) course under UG program affiliated to Rani Chennamma University, Belagavi. Prof. A. D. Kalkoti and Prof. B. K. Patil were the faculty members of the department during its initial stage. The department of Mathematics has 5 faculty members consisting one Assistant Professor and four guest lecturers. Prof. P. B. Burji is presently working as Principal and Smt.S.I.Nadaf is presently working as head of the department of Mathematics. The department has an excellent record of academic performance throughout the course of its functioning.

The college being situated in the rural area, we have many students coming from vernacular medium. So, we are taking utmost care to develop the learning and understanding levels. Books are provided from the central library and from the department to the students.

The lecture method is supported by interactive method, seminars/group discussions .Every year we are conducting class seminars/ group discussions by the students. The department encourages the students to participate in extracurricular activities like Innovative idea presentations, Seminars and group discussions etc.

Shri.P.B.Burji have completed M.Phil. in the year 2007-08. The faculty members of the department have participated in twelve State/National Seminars/Conferences during the period. The faculty take feed back by the students every year.

Majority of B.Sc. graduates have completed B.Ed. and joined as High School Teachers. Few graduates have completed M.Sc, MBA, MCA etc.

Gokak & Prof Pradeep Sangappagol, Sai International CBSE Jr. College was the resource person. Also department organised Group discussion on 20/09/2019 on topic Air Pollution & Climate Change, Online quiz to create awareness on Covid-19, in 2019-20in Covid Lockdown. Also organised Botanical field trip to Haragapur gad village on 15/09/2019. Also B.Sc I Sem student Miss. Veda Patil Presented national level student seminar on World Ozone Day under the topic Manufacturing Industries & Climate change on 16/09/2019 under the guidance of DR. I. B. Gokak. Pooja Sidnal presented one day state level student seminar on Nano Particles on 19/06/2019 Under the Title Nano Research in science & technology under the guidance of Dr. I.B.Gokak. Also department organised certificate course in Medicinal Plants & Phytochemical Techniques under the guidance of Dr. I. B. Gokak & Miss Priyanka Shinde. And Department organised online seminar competition pn the eve of World environment Day on 09/06/2020. And department conducted Nursary visit for B.Sc V Sem students on 06/01/2021 to Anjali HI-Tech Nursary Kmatnoor gate,& Industrial Visit on 07/01/2021 to Hira Sugar Sankeshwar. Department conducted Feild Visit for B.Sc I sem students on 23/02/2021 to veeranbhavi Beat, Kakti reserve forest. The Zoology department strives to teach Zoology subject, Science and Technology, to match the studies with modern mieleu. Also department organise different kinds of field visit, seminars, group discussions and also encourage the students to participate in such activities.

The department was established in 2018. Shri. S.S.Shendre was the First Head of the department of Zoology.

Since establishment of the department of Zoology has been developed gradually and brought to the present status.

And Department also conducted visit to Zoological museum and Geological museum of GSS College Belagavi on 02/02/2022. Department conducted visit to “Karnataka Institute for DNA Research” (KIDNAR) on 10/09/2022.
